Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi may finally be moving towards the big screen.
After months of uncertainty around the film’s clearance and its treatment of the India-China conflict, there is now a major development. According to a source, the latest version submitted by the makers has received a No Objection Certificate from the Information & Broadcasting Ministry.
The reported breakthrough could finally put Salman Khan’s much-awaited film back on the release track. However, the CBFC process is still pending, so there is one more important hurdle before the film can officially lock its theatrical release.
Maatrubhumi Gets Government Clearance For New Version
The journey of Maatrubhumi has been anything but straightforward.
The film, earlier titled Battle Of Galwan has undergone substantial changes following concerns around its subject and references to China. Earlier reports had said that the makers reworked the film and even reshot a significant portion to give the story a more fictionalised treatment.
Now according to our source, officials are satisfied with the latest version submitted by the team and have given the film an NOC.
This is a significant development for Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia, especially after the film remained stuck for months.
Salman Khan Eyeing November 13 Release?
The bigger question now is simple: When will Salman Khan finally bring Maatrubhumi to cinemas?
According to the source, Salman Khan is currently eyeing November 13 for the theatrical release.
The thinking is to use the post-Diwali period, when the festive mood is still strong and audiences are expected to remain in a celebratory zone. However, this date is not locked yet.
The film still needs to go through the Central Board of Film Certification. If the certification process is completed this month, the team could potentially move ahead with the November 13 plan.
A clearer picture is expected to emerge soon.
What Has Changed In Maatrubhumi?
This is where things get particularly interesting.
The new version of Maatrubhumi is reportedly very different from the original version. The film has been substantially altered following the feedback received during the clearance process.
Most notably, the revised version is said to present the India-China relationship in a more positive light.
Earlier reports had indicated that the makers were asked to address the film’s China-related portions, with one report stating that the new cut did not mention China by name. There were also reports of extensive reshoots and changes to the narrative.
The latest source-based update suggests that the revised film has now found greater acceptance with the authorities.
Maatrubhumi Was Earlier Battle Of Galwan
The project has gone through a major transformation even before reaching theatres.

Originally titled Battle Of Galwan, the film is inspired by the backdrop of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The title was later changed to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, with the makers reshaping the film amid the sensitivities surrounding the subject.
Apoorva Lakhia is directing the film, while Salman Khan leads the cast. Chitrangda Singh also stars in the project.
The film was initially scheduled for an earlier release, but the changes and clearance-related issues pushed those plans aside. As recently as September, reports said the film had not yet been submitted to the CBFC and that the China angle remained a key issue.
Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi Could Finally Be Back On Track
For Salman Khan fans, this could be the update they have been waiting for.
Maatrubhumi has already gone through a long and complicated road before reaching the release stage. Now, with the latest version reportedly receiving an NOC from the I&B Ministry, the film appears to have crossed an important hurdle.
But the CBFC clearance remains crucial.
If that process goes through as expected, November 13 could finally put Maatrubhumi on the theatrical calendar. For now, though, the date should be treated as a target, not a confirmed release date.
