In the final few seconds of the trailer, a thunderous qawwali kicks in – and instantly, the internet went mad. Comment sections, Twitter threads, Instagram reels, YouTube reactions…everyone is asking same question:
“BRO WHAT IS THIS SONG??? I NEED IT NOW.”
And the wild part? The track isn’t new at all. It’s 65 YEARS OLD.
The qawwali is “Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai”, a masterpiece composed by legendary music director Roshan – Hrithik Roshan’s grandfather – for the 1960 cult classic Barsaat Ki Raat. Written by the great Sahir Ludhianvi, the piece is nearly 13 minutes long and was reportedly recorded in a marathon 24-Hour Session, featuring vocal giants like Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, SD Batish and Sudha Malhotra.

The song carries a dramatic backstory too. Early in the film’s development, composer Khayyam was approached to create a qawwali inspired by a famous Pakistani composition originally crafted by Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan and Ustad Fateh Ali Khan (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s father). Khayyam declined, not wanting to recreate another artist’s work. Roshan, however, stepped in and constructed “Yeh Ishq Ishq Hai” – a piece that, while rooted in classical tradition, became something entirely its own.
The qawwali is so iconic that even Shah Rukh Khan, in Netflix’s The Roshans, called it his personal favourite from Roshan’s legacy. And singer Sonu Nigam described it as a once-in-a-lifetime creation, a qawwali that has never been matched in spirit or scale.
So when Dhurandhar decided to close it’s trailer with this historic titan of a track, the effect was immediate – goosebumps, nostalgia, cultural memory and new-age hype colliding at once.
The song is trending again. The trailer has gone nuclear.
