Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan is all set to step into the producer’s chair once again, this time for an exciting new film titled Mess. The film is being produced jointly by Hrithik Roshan and his brother Eshaan Roshan under their well-known production banner HRX Films, which operates as a division of the long-standing and respected FilmKraft Productions. Adding another creative force to the mix, the project is being developed in association with Soda Films Lab, bringing together a strong and experienced team behind the camera. The film is a Prime Original– meaning it will be exclusively made for and released on Amazon Prime Video– and production is expected to kick off very soon.
The Creative Team Behind The Camera
Helming the directorial duties on Mess is Rajesh A Krishnan, a filmmaker who has built a solid reputation for blending sharp comedy with layered, engaging narratives. His distinctive storytelling style and creative vision are said to be a perfect fit for the world that Mess is set to bring to life on screen.
When it comes to the writing, the film has an interesting international angle to it. The original screenplay was crafted by Paul Soter, an accomplished American writer known for his sharp comedic sensibility. The story was then adapted for Indian audiences by Kapil Sawant, who has also penned the dialogues for the film. This is notably not the first time Rajesh A Krishnan and Kapil Sawant have joined forces creatively, and by all accounts, their collaboration on Mess has been an equally rewarding and productive one.
What Is Mess About?
At its heart, Mess is a film that takes a brilliantly simple concept and flips it completely on its head. The story revolves around a group of robbers– not the most organised or polished bunch, to say the least- who break into what they assume is just another ordinary family home. However, what they quickly and painfully discover is that the house belongs to a man with OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), and from that point on, absolutely nothing goes according to plan.
As the night stretches on, the robbers find themselves caught in an increasingly chaotic and unnerving standoff- not because the family poses any obvious physical threat, but because the environment itself, governed by the obsessive routines and peculiarities of its owner, becomes their worst nightmare. In a sharp and darkly comedic twist, the story flips the traditional home-invasion narrative on its head entirely- it is not the family that needs to survive the night, but the robbers themselves. It is a high-concept, genre-bending premise that promises to deliver equal parts laughter, tension, and edge-of-your-seat unpredictability.
Hrithik Roshan Speaks — “A Natural Next Step”
Hrithik Roshan, clearly excited about the project, opened up about what Mess means to him and why he felt compelled to take it on as a producer. He spoke about how his relationship with Prime Video has already proven to be a creatively fulfilling one- referencing his previous collaboration Storm as the project that laid the foundation for what has since become a strong and trusted partnership.
In his own words, he described Mess as feeling like “a natural next step” in that journey- a project that embodies the kind of bold, unconventional, and boundary-pushing storytelling that he and the team at HRX Films are genuinely passionate about pursuing. He was full of praise for director Rajesh A Krishnan, calling out his rare and remarkable ability to blend comedy with compelling, character-driven narratives as something that sets him apart. Hrithik also mentioned that both he and Eshaan are deeply excited about the potential of this film, expressing a strong belief that Mess will strike a chord with audiences who are hungry for fresh, genre-defying stories that dare to do something different.
Director Rajesh A Krishnan — “A Creatively Fulfilling Experience”
Director Rajesh A Krishnan was equally enthusiastic when he spoke about the film, describing the entire process of developing Mess alongside writer Kapil Sawant as a genuinely rewarding creative experience. He expressed his joy at being able to collaborate with Kapil once again, hinting at a creative chemistry between the two that clearly works very well.
Rajesh described the world of the film as a “thrilling amalgamation of comedy and chaos”– a universe that is unusual enough to keep audiences completely gripped and on the edge of their seats from start to finish. He was warm in his appreciation of Hrithik and Eshaan Roshan, crediting them for bringing not just their industry expertise but also deep conviction and belief to the project. He also made a point of highlighting the dream cast that has been assembled for the film- though specific casting details are yet to be officially announced. Signing off, Rajesh expressed sincere gratitude to both HRX Films and Prime Video for their support, adding that he is fully convinced the film has found exactly the right home.
What’s Next?
As Mess moves closer to its production start date, the team has confirmed that further details- including the full cast and release timeline- will be revealed in the coming weeks. Given the calibre of talent involved both in front of and behind the camera, and the sheer originality of the concept, Mess is already shaping up to be one of the more anticipated Prime Original productions coming out of India.
