Some films don’t just release – they settle into people’s lives.
And Khosla Ka Ghosla is one of those rare gems.
Nearly two decades after becoming a beloved cult classic, Khosla Ka Ghosla is officially getting a sequel, and on 3rd January 2026, the film wrapped its principal photography. The news alone has sent waves of nostalgia through audiences who grew up quoting its dialogues, revisiting its scenes, and finding pieces of their own families in the Khoslas.
The sequel is especially significant for Anupam Kher, as it marks the 550th film of his legendary career – a milestone few actors in world cinema can claim. Over decades, Kher has worked across languages and continents, sharing screen space with icons ranging from Shah Rukh Khan to Robert De Niro, collaborating with filmmakers like David O. Russell, Yash Chopra, Ang Lee, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt etc. Yet Khosla Ka Ghosla remains one of the most emotionally cherished films in his filmography – both for him and for audiences.
Originally written by Jaideep Sahni and directed by Dibakar Banerjee, the 2006 film was made on a modest ₹3.75 crore budget and earned ₹6.7 crore at the box office. While commercially successful, its true triumph unfolded over the years. The film gained massive cult status thanks to its pitch-perfect writing, lived-in performances, and an authentic Delhi setting that felt raw, real, and deeply familiar. Every character – flawed, funny, and heartfelt – became unforgettable.
The sequel sees the core cast returning, including Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Ranvir Shorey, while also welcoming exciting new additions like Ravi Kishan and Huma Qureshi. While Dibakar Banerjee is not returning to direct, the baton has been passed to Prashant Bhagia, who has previously worked in the direction teams of Shoojit Sircar on films like Vicky Donor and Pink – bringing with him a grounded, human storytelling sensibility.
Sequels often come with risk, but Khosla Ka Ghosla isn’t just a film – it’s an emotion. And with its heart firmly intact, this return feels less like a continuation and more like revisiting old friends.
For fans, this isn’t just exciting news.
It’s homecoming cinema.
