Gu OTT Release Date: The Malayalam horror-fantasy film Gu, starring Saiju Kurup and child actor Deva Nandha, is finally making its way to OTT nearly two years after its theatrical release. Directed by Manu Radhakrishnan, the film combines Kerala folklore, supernatural mystery, and emotional family drama to tell a gripping story centered around a young girl’s terrifying encounter with an ancient legend.
Released in theatres on May 17, 2024, Gu later returned to cinemas with a re-release on July 18, 2024. While the film earned attention for its unique horror premise and child-led narrative, its digital premiere is expected to introduce it to a much wider audience.
Plot
The story follows Minna, an eight-year-old girl who visits her father’s ancestral home for the first time. Curious by nature, she becomes fascinated by stories about Gulikan, a mysterious supernatural figure believed to appear at any time of the day or night.
What begins as innocent curiosity soon takes a frightening turn when her cousin Paru falls under the influence of a dark and unexplained force. As strange incidents begin to unfold around the family, Minna teams up with her cousins to uncover the truth and confront the evil threatening their lives.
Blending suspense, fantasy, and heartfelt family moments, Gu puts its young characters at the center of a chilling supernatural adventure inspired by local folklore.

The film features Deva Nandha, who won praise for her performance in Malikappuram, alongside Saiju Kurup and Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju in important roles.
Gu is written and directed by Manu Radhakrishnan, while veteran actor-producer Maniyanpilla Raju has produced the film under the banner of Maniyanpilla Raju Productions.
The technical team includes cinematographer Chandrakanth Madhavan, editor Vinayan MJ, and music composer Jonathan Bruce. The sound design is by Sreejith Sreenivasan, with sound mixing handled by N. Harikumar. The film’s visual appeal is further enhanced by art director Thyagu Thavanoor, costume designer Divya Joby, action director Mafia Sasi, and VFX teams Coconut Bunch and Luma FX.
