Ranbir Kapoor is one of those actors who can completely change his screen persona from one film to another. He can be charming and romantic as Mickey in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar and then turn into the intense, short-tempered Ranvijay Singh in Animal. Both films arrived in 2023, but the actor has stayed away from the big screen since then.
Now, the wait is finally moving toward some major releases.
Ranbir’s upcoming slate includes a Sanjay Leela Bhansali romantic drama, a massive mythological epic and the sequel to Animal. These are not just regular releases either. Each project comes with its own scale, expectations and box office curiosity.
Here’s a closer look at the Upcoming Movies Of Ranbir Kapoor.
Love & War
Release Date: January 21, 2027
Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor are coming together again, and that alone is enough to make Love & War a major talking point.
The film is reportedly a love triangle set against the backdrop of war. Ranbir is said to play an army officer who finds himself caught in a complicated conflict with his friend, played by Vicky Kaushal, over the woman they both love, played by Alia Bhatt.
The reunion of Ranbir, Alia and Bhansali has added another layer of curiosity around the film. The recently released character posters have only pushed the buzz further.
After Saawariya, Ranbir and Bhansali are returning together, but this time the scale is far bigger. With Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt also on board, Love & War is shaping up as one of the major releases to watch.
Ramayana Part 1
Release Date: November 6, 2026
Ranbir Kapoor is taking on perhaps the biggest role of his career as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part Ramayana.
The film is being mounted as a large-scale mythological epic and brings together a massive ensemble cast. Alongside Ranbir, it stars Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta, among others.
The first part will introduce audiences to this grand retelling of the ancient Indian saga, with Ranbir at the centre as Lord Rama.
Given the scale of the project and the subject it is based on, Ramayana Part 1 is expected to be one of the biggest theatrical events in Ranbir’s career.
Ramayana Part 2
The story doesn’t end with the first film.
Ramayana Part 2 will continue the epic from where the first instalment leaves off and take the story toward its biggest conflict. The film will focus on the ultimate war and Lord Rama’s final triumph over Ravana.
With the first part setting up the characters and world, the second instalment is expected to take the scale several notches higher.
For Ranbir, it will also mean carrying forward one of the most iconic characters in Indian mythology on the big screen.
Animal Park
If there is one Ranbir Kapoor project that fans have been waiting to hear more about, it is undoubtedly Animal Park.
The sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal will continue the story of Ranvijay Singh, the violent and obsessive character that became one of Ranbir’s most talked-about performances.
The sequel is expected to explore the confrontation between Ranvijay and his newly introduced doppelgänger, Aziz Haque, while continuing the crime, power struggles and complicated family dynamics established in the first film.
There is still plenty of mystery surrounding the plot, but the idea of Ranbir returning to this world has already created massive curiosity.
Brahmastra 2
Another film that continues to be linked with Ranbir Kapoor is Brahmastra 2. The sequel to Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva is expected to take the Astraverse forward, with Ranbir potentially returning as Shiva.
The project has been in development for some time, but key details around its cast, story and release timeline remain unclear. For now, Brahmastra 2 should be treated as a rumoured upcoming project, rather than a confirmed release in Ranbir’s lineup.
After the impact of Animal, Animal Park carries huge expectations. The question now is how far Vanga and Ranbir will take the story next.
