Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam was among the theatrical releases that hit cinemas on October 16. The film stars Rajkummar Rao as renowned Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with Avinash Arun at the helm. Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Wamiqa Gabbi, Lalit Prabhakar, and Ashish Vidyarthi also play key roles in the legal drama.
Despite its real-life inspiration and a strong cast, the film received mixed reviews and got off to a modest start at the box office. If you missed it in theatres or would prefer watching it at home, here’s what you need to know about its upcoming OTT release.
Prahaar OTT Release: When and Where to Watch Prahaar?
Netflix is the official streaming partner for Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, as revealed in the film’s opening slate.
While the platform hasn’t announced an official streaming date yet, theatrical films typically arrive on OTT platforms six to eight weeks after their cinema release. Based on that window, Prahaar could start streaming on Netflix between November 27 and December 11, 2026.
However, this is only an estimated timeline. The makers and Netflix are yet to confirm the film’s OTT premiere date.
Is Prahaar Based on a True Story?
Yes, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam draws inspiration from real events surrounding the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The makers have described the film as being “based on true incidents of 26/11.”
Actor Rajkummar Rao plays Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in the film. Nikam is known for being the prosecutor in high-profile cases like the 1993 Bombay Blasts and the 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks. The film also delves into the long legal battle Nikam fought to hang terrorist Ajmal Kasab.
Alongside Nikam’s story, the film introduces Prosecutor Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali, played by Jaideep Ahlawat. The character is portrayed as an unlikely ally from Pakistan, adding another dimension to the film’s courtroom drama.
Prahaar Box Office Collection
Prahaar has been finding it tough to battle other big releases in theaters. Jailer 2 of Rajinikanth, Ranabaali of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna and Nayyi Navelli of Yami Gautam are some of the films that are presently doing well at the box office.
After six days in theatres, Prahaar has collected Rs 21.40 crore worldwide. It trails Nayyi Navelli, which has earned Rs 27.19 crore globally over the same period.
