Kalki 2898 AD Trailer
The 183-second trailer more than compensates for the delays and lack of promo materials, introducing us to the unique world of Bhairava. It begins by transporting viewers to the world of Kaashi, described as the first and last city to ever exist. As the trailer progresses, it reveals the ongoing power struggle and the consistent oppression of the underprivileged. However, it also heralds the return of a power that has existed for 6,000 years. Enter Bhairava, who has “never lost a fight to date”. This battle, however, won’t be easy for him, as the trailer concludes with a glimpse of the formidable evil (played by Kamal Haasan) he must face. “Fret not, a new era is arriving,” the devil says, setting the stage for the ultimate battle.
The trailer also showcases Saswata Chatterjee’s evil ruler wreaking havoc in Kaashi, prompting philosophers to yearn for a divine intervention. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama predicts that a new force of power is imminent, and is present in the womb of Padma (played by Deepika Padukone). When Saswata’s evil forces chase Padma and her unborn child, both Ashwatthama and Bhairava (Prabhas) come to her rescue. The trailer is filled with high-octane stunts performed by both Amitabh and Prabhas. We also catch a glimpse of Disha Patani fighting Prabhas, and Kamal Haasan in an unrecognisable bald avatar announcing the advent of a new era towards the end of the trailer.
With an estimated budget of $75 million, Kalki 2898 AD is set to be one of India’s most ambitious and expensive productions. The film aims for a global release, hoping to emulate the success of SS Rajamouli’s RRR in 2022. Prabhas, who ended his streak of flops with his last film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, which grossed over Rs 700 crore worldwide, is looking to continue his comeback with Kalki 2898 AD after a series of unsuccessful films.
Originally scheduled for release on May 9, Kalki 2898 AD faced delays and will now premiere globally on June 27. As the release date approaches, fans’ excitement continues to build, eagerly awaiting to see how this mytho-sci-fi epic unfolds on the big screen.
