Hold onto your capes – because the latest whispers around The Batman: Part II might just send Gotham fans into a full on frenzy. Reports now suggest that Scarlett Johansson is in final negotiations to join the sequel, alongside returning lead Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
The film, helmed by Matt Reeves, has entered pre-production and camera as expected to roll in early 2026 at Leavesden Studios (and some UK Locations). With Johansson potentially on board – playing a yet-undisclosed but probably major character – fans are already speculating: is she Poison Ivy? Vicki Vale? or maybe an entirely new Gotham Legend? Meanwhile, longtime cast regulars like Zoe Kravitz (Selina Kyl/Catwoman) are reportedly not expected to return, which only raises the stakes further.
Though, Colin Farrell has confirmed he’s returning as Oz Cobb / the Penguin in The Batman Part II. The news has set off a wave of excitement across social media.
Farrell’s Penguin became a phenomenon in his own right. After the success of his spin-off series The Penguin, he scooped up the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Limited Series in 2025 for his performance and gained an Emmy Nomination — joining the ranks of other great Batman-verse villains.
The response to the show was enormous: critics praised his gritty, immersive transformation and fans devoured every twist of Gotham’s underworld saga. Now, with Part II, both Farrell and the film’s architect — director Matt Reeves — along with James Gunn (who’s steering the larger DC Universe) reportedly “loved” the new screenplay and told people it’s “the darkest, most ambitious Batman story yet.”

On the technical front – and this is big – longtime Cinematographer Greig Fraser will step away, replaced by Oscar-Winning cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt (known for his work on The Killer and Mindhunter) for the sequel. Fans online are already hyped – many calling the move “cinematic disruption in the best way possible.”
Filming for The Batman Part II is scheduled to start in Spring 2026, with a projected release date around October 1, 2027.
If these pieces stay intact, The Batman Part II isn’t just a follow-up — it could be a whole new level for superhero cinema, combining blockbuster ambition with raw, character-driven darkness.
So Gothamites — polish your cowl, load the Bat-mobile, and brace yourselves. Because this might just be the most brutal, brilliant Batman ride yet.
