Ranbir Kapoor has dropped an interesting hint about the future of Ramayana, and fans are already wondering if the epic could eventually go beyond its planned two-part release. A passing mention of a possible third instalment has set off plenty of speculation online.
The actor has been talking about his experience of working on Ramayana, but his latest interview has caught everyone’s attention for a different reason. Ranbir plays Lord Rama in Ramayana: Rise Of A Legend, which also features Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 4,000 crore, the mythological epic is among the most ambitious projects Indian cinema has taken on.
Did Ranbir Kapoor Accidentally Reveal Ramayana 3?
During a recent conversation with Review Nation, Ranbir opened up about shooting the film and shared an update on the second instalment. He revealed that he has already completed half of his work on Part 2. But one particular line from his answer got fans talking.
Ranbir said, “I have finished 50 per cent of part two already. We are in the process of shooting it already. Even when we finish part two or part three, if there is one. I don’t think this will ever leave us. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, irrespective of what the result is. It is not career-defining but life-defining.”
That brief mention of a possible third part was all it took to get fans speculating. While some were excited by the idea of seeing the epic unfold across three films, others wondered whether Ranbir had accidentally let something slip. One user joked, “Ranbir the spoiler Kapoor is back.” Another wrote, “But they could easily have trimmed that specific part, but I wonder they didn’t.”
A fan even compared him to Hollywood star Tom Holland, who has earned a reputation for accidentally revealing movie spoilers, writing, “Tom Holland of Bollywood.”
Namit Malhotra Had Earlier Spoken About Ramayana 3 Plans
Interestingly, Ranbir isn’t the only one who has hinted at the possibility of a third instalment. Producer Namit Malhotra also addressed the idea during the recent LA premiere of Ramayana.
He revealed that the makers had initially considered telling the story across three films. However, the plan eventually changed, and they decided to bring the epic to the big screen in two parts.
That doesn’t mean the door is completely shut on a third film. Speaking to international media, Namit said, “I’m not going to give any spoilers for anything – but you know, who knows the way, once we get all the response and all the feedback, we may sit back at the table and the drawing board and see if there is anything else that we want to add or subtract, depending on how the world has received it.”

For now, the makers are focused on the two announced instalments. Ramayana Part 1 is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on November 5, 2026, ahead of Diwali, while Part 2 is slated for a Diwali 2027 release. Whether the story eventually gets a third chapter remains to be seen.
