As of November 2, 10:20 PM IST, Ramayana has sold around 2.17 lakh tickets across PVR INOX and Cinepolis for its opening day. The two national chains have collectively reported a gross of ₹13.13 crore, with 5,672 shows and an occupancy rate of 19%.
The film has reportedly crossed ₹15 crore in Day 1 advance booking across India, which is a respectable start. However, when you consider the scale of the project, its reported budget and the star power attached to it, the response so far does not quite match the enormous expectations surrounding the film.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita, alongside a large ensemble cast. This is not just another big theatrical release. It is a film expected to create a major box office event, and naturally, the trade is looking for much bigger numbers.
The Final 48 Hours Will Be Crucial
That said, it would be too early to write off the advance booking trend. Ramayana still has the crucial final stretch ahead, and the last 24 to 48 hours can change the entire picture. A strong jump in ticket sales could give the film the momentum it needs before release.
IMAX shows are also witnessing encouraging demand, with several prime seats already filling up. At the same time, bookings for non-national chains, single screens and several South Indian markets are yet to open. These markets could add considerably to the overall advance sales once bookings begin.
The real test will be how quickly the film picks up from here. The Monday-to-release-day window is particularly important for a film of this magnitude. A strong final-day surge could turn the current numbers into a much more impressive opening.
Ramayana Needs a Massive Last-Minute Push
For now, Ramayana has a healthy head start, but the expectations are considerably higher. Crossing ₹15 crore in advance sales is no small achievement, yet a film of this scale needs extraordinary numbers to match the hype surrounding it.

The comparison with other major releases, including Dhurandhar: The Revenge, will become more meaningful as the final advance booking figures come in. Ultimately, the opening-day performance will depend on how strongly audiences respond during these last few hours.
The potential is enormous. Now, the advance booking needs to catch up with the expectations.
