The buzz around Ramayana has been building for months, and now the first signs of that excitement are showing up at the box office. With Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the role of Lord Rama and Yash set to play Ravana, the upcoming epic has already become one of the most talked-about Indian films. And if the early advance booking numbers are anything to go by, the film could be heading towards a BIG opening.
Ramayana has reportedly sold over 19,000 tickets across national cinema chains in a short span, giving its pre-sales a strong start. The film has recorded an opening-day advance booking gross of Rs 1.53 crore for November 5, while the figure stands at Rs 63.32 lakh without block bookings. It is still early days, but the initial response has certainly caught the trade’s attention. A box office storm could be brewing, and the next few days will be crucial.
Ramayana Advance Bookings: Mumbai Leads the Race
Mumbai is currently leading the city-wise advance booking figures, while Maharashtra has emerged as the top-performing state. The numbers show that the film is already drawing strong interest across key markets.
Maharashtra has recorded Rs 57.09 lakh in advance booking gross, followed by Gujarat at Rs 17.87 lakh and Delhi at Rs 15.10 lakh. The top 10 states alone account for 95% of the film’s total advance booking gross, underlining how concentrated the early response is across major markets.
The city-wise figures are equally interesting. Mumbai leads with Rs 39.46 lakh, followed by NCR at Rs 15.10 lakh and Ahmedabad at Rs 12.25 lakh. The top 10 cities contribute 74% of the total gross.
For a film of this scale, these early numbers will be closely watched as bookings gather pace in the days ahead.
Hindi 3D Format Drives Ramayana’s Advance Bookings
The Hindi version is doing the heavy lifting so far, contributing around Rs 1.39 crore across 1,351 shows. The Kannada version has collected Rs 12.90 lakh across 61 shows, with Bengaluru leading at Rs 9.58 lakh. Mysuru has contributed Rs 1.44 lakh, while Shivamogga has recorded Rs 1 lakh.
The 3D format is another major contributor. Hindi 3D screenings have generated Rs 1.16 crore, accounting for around 76% of the total advance booking gross.
Premium formats are also making their presence felt. IMAX, 4DX, Dolby, ICE and EPIQ screenings have contributed 17% of the gross despite accounting for only 6% of the shows. That points to strong early interest in watching the film on bigger screens and in premium formats.
Can Ramayana Turn This Start Into a Box Office Tsunami?
The early signs are encouraging, and selling more than 19,000 tickets across national chains in a short span gives the film a solid talking point. But the real test is how quickly bookings grow from here, especially as the release date approaches.
Advance booking figures can change significantly as more shows open and audiences begin locking in their plans. The current numbers offer a promising start, but the final opening will depend on how much momentum the film can sustain across markets.
