Produced by Atlee, the Varun Dhawan-starrer ‘Baby John,’ is an action-packed thriller directed by Kalees. The film experienced a sharp decline in its box office performance on the 2nd day. Baby John, which opened with promising numbers on Christmas, has failed to sustain its momentum.
Baby John Day 2 Box Office Collection and Performance
According to Sacnilk, Baby John collects approximately ₹3.9 crore (nett) in India on Day 2, bringing its total collection to ₹15.17 crore (nett) over two days. This marks a steep drop of over 65% from its ₹11.25 crore Day 1 collection. The second day’s Hindi occupancy stands at just 9.39%, with footfall peaking slightly during the afternoon and evening shows but remaining low overall.
Reasons for the Drop
- Post-Holiday Decline: The film’s release on Christmas ensured a strong opening due to the festive holiday. However, Day 2, a regular working day, significantly impacted footfall as audiences resumed their routines.
- Mixed Word-of-Mouth: While the film boasts a star-studded cast and the backing of renowned producer Atlee, it faces mixed reviews. The narrative, a remake of Tamil blockbuster Theri, does not appear to have resonated universally with Hindi-speaking audiences.
- Stiff Competition: Baby John also contends with formidable box office rivals like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King, both of which attract significant attention and audiences. This has further diluted its market share.
The sharp decline raises concerns about the film’s longevity at the box office. With a two-day total that ideally matches what should have been a single-day opening figure, Baby John faces an uphill battle to sustain its presence. To avoid further dips, it will need stronger weekend traction and improved audience feedback.
